What to do about a heartbreaker who comes back?

Okay, so, there was this boy who I was convinced liked me. He would always text me and talk to me and in class he would massage my back and kiss my hand... Really cute little things. But then he asked if I would sneak out with him and stuff like that and I told him no. At first he was still nice to me, probably hoping I would change my mind. When he realised he wasn't going to get what he wanted, he went after another girl and it really hurt me. I was expecting it, but it didn't make it any better. Then, a couple days ago, he texted me after like 5 or 6 months and said he wanted to apologise and he wanted to make it up to me. I told him I was over what happened and I shouldn't have let it bother me so much. ..I guess what I'm asking is, what does this mean, and what should I do?
